The libraries of the Madison County Library System offer many free programs for the public. Unless otherwise noted, for more information, contact the specific library or visit www.mcls.ms. Recurring events include:

Canton Library (601) 859-3202:

Rising Readers Story Time: ages 3-5, 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; and 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Flora Library (601) 879-8835:

Rising Readers Story Time: ages 3-5, 10 a.m. Mondays.

Madison Library (601) 856-2749:

Rising Readers Story Time: ages 3-5, 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Baby Bookworms Story Time “Mother Goose on the Loose”: infant-2 years, 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Wednesdays. Active participation by caregiver required.

Youth Storytelling Club: grades 2 and higher, 3:30-5 p.m., second Thursday each month.

Madison Avenue Book Club: 6-7 p.m., second Monday each month. One book selected per month for informal discussion, no particular genre. New members welcome.

Ridgeland Library (601) 856-4536:

AARP Tax Assistance: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays, through April 15. Geared mainly toward seniors, assistance is provided on first come, first served basis.

Ridgeland Readers Story Time: ages 3-7, 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Baby Bookends Story Time: infant-2 and their caregivers, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Art Junction: grades 3-6, 3:30-4:30 p.m., first and third Thursdays each month. Creativity, with reading and writing twists.

Teen Time: grades 7-12, 3:30-4:30 p.m., second and fourth Thursdays each month. Pop culture and current events.

Madison County Mystery Readers: Group meets, 10:30 a.m., second Tuesday each month.
