Adopt a cat for $9 during special event

From June 21-30 Community Animal Rescue and Adoption is participating in the nationwide cat adoption event, 9 Lives for $9. During this time, the usual $75 cat adoption fee will be reduced to $9. All cats will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. CARA will also host an open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 960 N. Radio Clubs to test emergency skills

The Jackson and Central Mississippi Amateur Radio Clubs will participate in the American Radio Relay League 2013 Field Day from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sundayto test their emergency skills. JARC will be set up between Bass Pro Shops and Sam’s Club in Pearl, and CMARC will be in a building next to River Oaks Hospital in Flowood.

Car Park Rock set in Jackson Saturday

In conjunction with the 2013 Celebrate America Balloon Glow, set for July 4 near Northpark mall in Ridgeland, a karaoke contest will be held June 25-27 in Northpark’s Center Court. The winner has the opportunity to open the evening’s entertainment on July 4 from the main stage. Preliminary karaoke rounds are 6:30-9 p.m. June 25-26 with the finals set for 6:30 p.m. June 27.
