The Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest, one of Canton’s signature events, is a collaboration between the City of Canton Parks and Recreation, the Mid-Mississippi Balloon Association, Ridgeland Recreation & Parks, Canton Convention & Visitors Bureau and The Good Samaritan Center.

Twenty colorful hot air balloons will lead a fun filled weekend for children and adults of all ages. This four-day event will include three competitive balloon races, two spectacular balloon glows, two incredible firework presentations, a Run/Walk, children’s activities, great food and great entertainment.

The first chance to see balloons will be Thursday evening on the Historic Canton Square. Two balloons will set up, with shopping and music on the square. Then the Festival kicks off with the Celebrate America Balloon Glow in Ridgeland on Friday, July 4th with entertainment by Samantha Landrum and Sawyer Brown.

This year, the balloon fest will bring back the Balloon Chase Run Walk set for Saturday morning of July 5th. The four mile run, two mile walk and kid’s one mile fun run will take place at the Canton Multi-Purpose Complex complete with beautiful balloons flying over head and a great post race spread.

In between the Balloon Chase and Saturday evening Balloon Glow and Fireworks, stop by the Multi-Purpose Complex for Canton Parks & Recreation’s Touch a Tractor in the Arena. Climb all over tractors and various vehicles till your heart is content from 10am – 4pm.

On Saturday evening of the festival, get up close and personal with hot air balloons at the Canton Multi-purpose Complex and meet pilots from all over the Southeast! Also see our Special Shape Rodeo featuring, Beagle Maximus, the Little Pirate and Yellow Car.

Saturday of the festival also features a Golf Ball Drop fundraiser for The Good Samaritan Center. One thousand balls will be lifted up in a hot air balloon and dropped onto the Balloon Glow field at the Canton Multi-purpose Complex. There will be a hole in the middle of the field, and the closest ball to the hole will win $2,000. Spectators can take part in the event by purchasing a ball for $10 from the festival website or the day of the festival. Participants do not have to be present to win and purchases are tax deductible.

This is the ninth year the festival will be a fundraiser for The Good Samaritan Center, a non-profit social service organization. All net proceeds from the festival will go to The Good Samaritan Center to further the social service programs that the center offers Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties.
