Madison is sending a heartfelt Valentine’s Day wish to retirees.
The city and Madison the City Chamber of Commerce are planning to celebrate the hearts-and-flowers holiday on Feb. 14 by inviting friends to lunch.
A Valentine social, open to all retirees in Madison, is set for Feb. 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Madison Square Center for the Arts. The time for food and fellowship will be filled with music and a guest speaker, all tied together under the theme “The Blessings of Our Friends.”
Seating is limited to 200 so reservations are required. Cost of the luncheon is $5.
“I think this will be a sell-out so everyone needs to register early,” said Tona Becker, retirement coordinator for the city.
Those who come with old friends and those who meet new ones at the social will enjoy songs by the St. Anthony Catholic School choir and will laugh along with professional speaker Janie Walters of Madison, who will entertain the crowd. The pasta and salad lunch will be served by Corner Bakery.
“Come share Valentine’s Day with friends in Madison,” said Jo Luby, the city’s special events coordinator.
“This social is presented to our senior friends with love. We want to come together with our friends to enjoy a Valentine’s meal filled with music and fellowship,” she said.
Sponsors for the social are Amada Senior Care, Citizens National Bank, Community Bank, Community Trust Bank, Madison River Oaks Hospital, St. Dominic’s, Senior Home Care and Trustmark Bank.
